What is international system freight?

International system freight transfers the consolidation principle – pre-, main and on-carriage – to cross-border corridors. The main leg crosses borders, often intermodally: road combined with the Eurotunnel, ferry or seaport. What matters is not the single run, but the end-to-end planned process including documents and transitions.

Customs compliance & cross-border

Within the EU single market (France, Benelux) customs clearance is not required, but cross-border rules such as tolls, posting and cabotage apply. For third countries such as the United Kingdom (since Brexit), export and import customs clearance, EORI and safety data are planned in as an integral part of the system – so the goods do not get stuck at the border.

Intermodal logistics & transit times

The transitions – Eurotunnel, ferry or seaport – are planned into the process on a clocked basis, so transit times can be reliably calculated. Binding transit times are agreed individually by contract as a service level; they are performance commitments within our liability terms, not a fault-independent guarantee.

The backbone is formed by the national main legs (e.g. Hannover–Leipzig on the overnight leg). International corridors dock onto this system: the same consolidation logic, extended by customs, intermodal transitions and cross-border regulations. Reach grows without losing plannability.

Who international system freight pays off for

The model is strong with recurring, plannable cross-border volumes – such as regular UK traffic with customs requirements, JIT supplies to France, or port-hinterland traffic via Benelux. Pure spot-market single runs without repetition deliberately do not fit.
